About LearnTastic
LearnTastic.com provides online continuing education for industries such as childcare, healthcare, and construction. We’re now building the next generation of LMS technology—an AI-adaptive learning platform that dynamically serves lessons based on each learner’s needs, similar to what Alpha School and other adaptive models have pioneered.
We’re looking for a hands-on Learning Systems Architect / Full-Stack Engineer who can bring this vision to life by merging multiple SCORM courses into a single, intelligent, personalized experience.
What You’ll Do
- Architect & build a modular AI-driven LMS layer that unifies multiple SCORM/cmi5 courses into one adaptive experience.
- Design and implement an ingestion pipeline to parse, normalize, and catalog SCORM 1.2 / 2004 packages.
- Develop an xAPI layer (shim) to track learner activity, completion, and mastery in a central Learning Record Store (LRS).
- Integrate AI / LLM models to personalize learning paths, recommend content, and deliver adaptive tutoring.
- Implement a knowledge graph or skill-mapping system to link learning objects to competencies and prerequisites.
- Build dashboards and APIs for reporting learner mastery, CE credits, and engagement analytics.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with content strategists, data scientists, UX designers, and marketing to align business goals with learner outcomes.
- Advise on standards (SCORM, cmi5, LTI 1.3, xAPI) and oversee compliance and interoperability.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in LMS development or e-learning systems engineering.
- Strong knowledge of SCORM 1.2/2004, cmi5, and xAPI.
- Proven experience with Learning Record Stores (LRS) such as Learning Locker, Watershed, or GrassBlade.
- Full-stack proficiency: Node.js / Python / PHP (Laravel), React/Next.js, and RESTful API development.
- Experience with AWS (S3, Lambda, RDS/Postgres, CloudFront) or equivalent cloud environments.
- Working understanding of NLP, recommender systems, or reinforcement learning concepts.
- Experience integrating or fine-tuning LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) for adaptive or chat-based tutoring.
- Familiarity with data privacy and compliance (FERPA, GDPR, HIPAA considerations).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior work on adaptive learning platforms or competency-based education models.
- Experience with Neo4j or knowledge graph databases.
- Hands-on with cmi5 launch flows and LTI 1.3 integrations.
- Understanding of instructional design principles and micro-learning models.
- Open-source contributions or portfolio of previous LMS or ed-tech projects.
